Hi! My name is Kendall. I am the founder and creator of ReDressed. High school can seem like a scary place, and for refugee teens, it may seem even scarier. Not only can a new campus and fresh faces pose anxiety, but adapting to an entirely new culture is intimidating. My mission is to make the high school experience less stressful for refugee teens. During these years in highschool, teens grow exceptionally fast. I am no exception. For instance, a dress I had worn freshmen year is too small for me now. Rather than let this dress stay unused, I thought to repurpose it. This is the moment when I thought of ReDressed. While I know, buying a dress is not a priority for most refugees, school dances are part of the American high school experience. Dances provide the perfect opportunity for teens to have fun with peers and adapt to new cultures and settings. Because dresses are not the first priority for a refugee, I want to provide dresses, for free, to hopefully ease a refugee's transition. I want to ReDress the problem of not only finding a dress, but finding comfort in a confusing time.
